Congratulations to our interdisciplinary team from Biology, Chemistry & Physics, Engineering, Math and the Office of Student Success for being awarded a STEM Mentoring Grant from the NC Independent Colleges and Universities. This is a 3 year grant program that provides financial support for mentoring programs for underrepresented students in STEM. We are excited to start our program this fall!
Edna Queener Proffit Symposium
We had a great time at our department’s annual Edna Queener Proffit Symposium. Ryan and other department research students shared their research for the year, and Ryan was presented with his Derieux award from the NCAS meeting (Kendall, Dr. Goforth’s student, won one as well!). Campbell Alumna Alisha gave a keynote on her graduate school work at NCSU as well. It was a great way to end the year!
Wiggins Symposium Presentations and Keynote
Stephanie presented her work on thiamine-dependent enzyme biocatalysis at Campbell’s annual Wiggins Symposium today. Great job Stephanie!
Also, I had the great honor of being invited to give the keynote address for the symposium. I had a lot of fun talking about the value of undergraduate research with two of our amazing student research fellows, Callen and Skylar. If you want to watch the symposium keynote address and awards ceremony, you can access it at the link below.
I’m excited for this year’s edition of the research fellows program, coming summer 2022!
1st place at NCAS Meeting!
Congratulations to Ryan who won first place in the Cell/Molecular Biology division for his presentation at the NCAS meeting this weekend! It was hosted at Campbell and we had lots of fun helping out. Hats off to Dr. Womick for leading a great conference!
Ryan awarded Sigma Xi Grant in Aid of Research
Congratulations to Ryan for being awarded a Grant in Aid of Research from Sigma Xi! The funds will go a long way towards our work engineering thiamine dependent enzymes for novel reactions. We’re thankful to Sigma Xi for their support of student research. You can read more about the GIAR program here: https://www.sigmaxi.org/programs/grants-in-aid-of-research
SERMACS 2021
Ryan traveled to Alabama this week to present at the southeast regional meeting of the ACS. Great job on the presentation! It’s nice to be able to attend conferences in person again.
We're Back!
Campbell’s faculty webpage server is down and out, so we are back to updating this site. Even though I’m sad to lose all the posts we had over the past four years, I’m excited to post new updates here soon!
Hello World!
The website is up! Have fun looking around!
